Don't forget INSPIRE on Thursday

Just a reminder that it is Class R's INSPIRE workshop on Thursday 25th March from 9.10 to 11.30 in the hall.  The session will start with a talk from Mr Kendrick about how to safely use the internet with your child.  We will then join you with the children and will do a short carpet session to show you some of the 'Letters and Sounds' work we have been doing to help the children with their reading and writing.  You will then have time to work and play with your child on a range of fun activities including:
  • Making a word game to take home
  • Writing words and letters in the shaving foam
  • Playing word building puzzles and games
  • Using the magnetic letters to make words
There will be tea, coffee and biscuits provided and a chance to chat with other parents while the children have a break.

We really hope you can join us.  If you haven't already returned your reply slip please do so as soon as possible so that we have an idea of how many parents will be attending.

See you on Thursday.

We Love Yogabugs!

We've really been enjoying our Yogabugs sessions over the last few weeks.  Every Monday morning our Yoga teacher Mrs Bail comes to see us.  We always warm up by doing our 'sun salutations', then Mrs Bail tells us an exciting story and we join in with different postures.  Some of our favourite postures are the dog, the snake and road runner.  We are also getting really good at doing trees and lots of us can balance on one leg really well now.  At the end of the session we have relaxation time where we lie very still with a lavendar bag over our eyes.  Yogabugs has really helped us develop our imagination as well as our coordination, balance and concentration.  Here are some pictures of us doing Yogabugs this week:

Brilliant Breakfasts

Our topic this half term is food and this week we've been talking about breakfast.  We have learnt how important it is to have a healthy breakfast every morning before we come to school, and we've made some lovely collage pictures of our favourite breakfasts.  Today we made Oatmeal and Blueberry Muffins which could be part of a healthy breakfast.  Here is the recipe if you would like to make some at home:

Oatmeal and Blueberry Muffins
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups of plain flour
3/4 cup of rolled oats
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 beaten egg
3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup cooking oil
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
You will also need cake cases.

Method:
  1. Heat oven to 200C.
  2. Stir together flour, rolled oats, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.  Make a well in the centre of the mixture.
  3. Combine egg, milk, brown sugar, oil and vanilla in another bowl.  Add egg mixture all at once to flour mixture. Stir just until moistened (batter should be lumpy.)  Fold blueberries into the batter. Spoon the batter into the cake cases filling each three quarters full.
  4. Bake for 16 to 18 minutes or until golden brown.  Cool on a wire rack for 5 mins then serve warm.  This recipe makes 12 muffins.
PS A big thank you to all parents who send in 50p a week School Fund.  Without this we would not be able to do all our lovely cooking activities.
